The Send Text command in the Network menu provides an alternative way of sending text files. The file will be sent as if its contents were being typed by you.
Before asking to Send Text, you must give some command on the other computer which prepares it to receive the file. For instance, you could start up a text editor and go into insertion mode; or you could start up a mailer program and wait until it asks you to type in the message text; and so on.
Send Text only works on a Terminal Session.
Send Text uses no protocol, so on phone connections it is possible that a file sent this way will be corrupted by line noise. If possible, XMODEM should be used for file transfers over phone lines, but where it is impossible or highly inconvenient to do so, Send Text is available.
Send Text will not send files longer than 16 kilobytes, because of the danger of flooding the other computer's typing buffers.
Send Text is meant for short files, particularly bulletin board and mail messages. You should use Send File in the Network menu for longer files.
